Hey folks I’m at a little bit of a loss and was hoping for either a hint or possibly a recommendation for a mechanic in Los Angeles. I recently moved out here and lost access to my old timer.

There is a momentary loss of power in high 4th/into fifth gear, a stutter of the engine. It started light at first but got worse after 40 or 50 miles to the point where it wouldn’t maintain highway speed and backfired. No issues at idle or at lower speeds, the tach isn’t jumping and it doesn’t feel like a clutch slipping (could be wishful thinking.)

Oh and did I mention that while it’s happening every time I take it out to test it’s intermittent, I can baby it and it gets right back up there to make it back to the off-ramp no problem.

before the issue I had the valves adjusted less than 1,000 miles ago. I recently replaced both petcocks, new screens and new fuel lines.

Since it started I suspected a leaking/torn diaphragm and while they weren’t torn I was in there so rebuilt both carbs. Idle is set at ~1k and they’re synced. I noticed the breather valve is putting some oil into my right air intake so I have the new reed valve on the way to replace that, thought maybe it was causing dirty plugs so replaced those, no luck, and made sure the battery had a full charge, still no luck.

Oh and I tried the pop the gas cap to make sure it’s not the vent, no luck there either.

Sorry it’s not a glamour shot of the bike, it’s the only one on my phone and I figure one was better than none.

Any thoughts?
