Is adding Early Bird check-in considered a change to my reservation?

Bought my tickets for a flight next month from PDX to Minneapolis pre May 28th. We are talking about adding early bird check in now but I want to make sure that isn’t considered a change that will mess with my 2 free checked bags. Does anyone know if that is considered a change or not?
