What lovable animal is the easiest to look after?

Out of all the animals in the world which ones can be loved and looked after with some sort of ease? I may be get a pet someday perhaps but im allergic to cats and dogs plus they sound pricey to look after? I live in hot climate aswell. I most likely wont get a pet anytime soon but im still curious.

Anyways what's your experience with animals and what would you suggest to somebody like me?
