Recommended vacuum for my son's first house

My son (in his early 30s) just moved out of his apartment and into his own house. The vacuum he had was garbage so he didn't take it with him. I'm planning to gift him a new one.

I went to Walmart today but there were so many options that it was overwhelming and I gave up.

Any recommendations? Looking for something affordable yet good quality and lasting.
