Who can I pay to catch cats?
A family of cats moved into my yard: a mom and 4 kittens. I love cats, but these ones have fleas. BAD. My wife got bitten, no joke, over 100 times in a few days. We do not have any pets of our own. We called an exterminator and they sprayed inside and out. Then we spent two full 16 hour days over the weekend just cleaning and running everything through the washing machine. Today I went out to do my own DIY pest control, and despite extreme effort, came inside with a few fleas on me. Wife had a breakdown.
The problem is we can kill fleas over an over, but until we catch those cats, they'll keep coming back. Every google search kept leading me to the Visalia Feral Cat Coalition, but their process just isn't feasible. Also, I'm just *hoping* that they'll treat the cats for fleas, because I was told they'll just release them back where they came from. If they come back with fleas, there's no point. So yeah, I have to set up an appointment, trap the cats, and they'll pick them up. If I'm not able to catch the cats, then I might have to wait a whole month. And let's be real, my chances of catching ALL FOUR cats on the day of my appointment is 0%. I just don't have the skills to get it done. If I get one, the others will scatter, and I really don't want to separate the family. There's got to be someone I can pay to catch them, right?
Or... on second thought, maybe I could catch them all, one by one, and treat them myself? I've owned cats and treated them for fleas in the past. All it takes is a little of medicine between the shoulder blades. Maybe if I aim just right, I can squeeze the tube through the cage and land it on the right spot. Note: I'm half joking.
Oh yeah, and we tried everything to get them to move on. Ripped out ALL the vegetation. Boarded up all the hiding places. I even dumped 6 lbs of chili powder around the yard only to find one of the kittens sleeping on top of a pile of it.
Thanks for reading. It feels like there's nothing more I can do. I need an expert.
