When did the US stop caring about sexual predators?
I’m just remembering the duke lacrosse rape scandal, which isn’t the best example because the story was more about he said/she said, but it was all over the news. It got an absurd amount of air time. It’s just crazy to me that the public consensus of sexual assaulters has become so incredibly negotiable.. especially in politics. Clinton would probably be a better example to compare against.
Anyways, Trump or his association with Epstein? The right doesn’t seem to be able to even consider it. They don’t GAF. Evangelist celebrate him the loudest. Not to mention his utilization of people like Andrew Tate. Association with Gaetz or whatever long list of right wing pervs.
Then there’s Cuomo in the NYC mayoral race. Like, he should be blackballed from politics forever, but not only is he popular, but it is looking like he’ll win..
When did SA or scrupulous sexual behavior become part of the “lesser evil” calculus? Kind of a profound shift in our standards of ethics. It’s so buried in all the other rhetoric..
How did we get here? Porn? Media? Money in politics presenting a selection bias in favor of shifty chameleons and smearing over steadfast representatives of integrity and objectivity?
Where does it end? Is our general consensus headed more towards psychopathy? Are we shifting to cruelty and nihilism over nationalism, self interests or empathy?
How is this okay? We have millions of good people with integrity and far better competency in this country.
How do we stop it? Is it MSM, social media, compromised independent media and the national conventions? Can we stop it?
