Looking for well-managed low-rise buildings or townhouses in New West or Burnaby (with healthy reserve funds and no looming special levies)

Question

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking to buy a property in New Westminster or Burnaby and hoping to tap into some local knowledge. I’ve noticed that many places I’ve visited had massive special levies recommended in their depreciation report ($100k+ per unit on average in the coming 15-20 years), and I’m hoping to avoid buying into that kind of financial surprise.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions or insights on:

  • Buildings or complexes that are known for good management and healthy reserve funds.
  • Places where big-ticket items (roofing, piping, windows, balconies, etc.) have already been dealt with, or are being proactively planned for.

I am especially interested in low-rise complexes and townhouses.

Thanks in advance for any tips or experiences you’re willing to share!
