Chemistry teacher-

okay I want to preface by saying my dream since I was like a child basically was to be a teacher. Up until about two years ago I wasn’t sure exactly what subject but now I am in school finishing up my bachelors in education specialization in chemistry (so I can be a 7-12 chemistry teacher).

The only reason I even mentioned the first sentence is because when I went into school originally to finish my degree to get certified I heard there was a teacher shortage, but now I’m hearing nobody wants to hire? And teachers are being laid off?

Basically my point is I’m genuinely worried when I finally achieve my certification I won’t be hired? I don’t have a back up plan nor know what else I could even do with my degree if it came down to it and districts weren’t hiring. So now I’m overthinking and my anxiety is like through the roof lmao.

Do y’all think this could change in the next 3 years? Statistically what do yall say? Or do you think it’ll be about the same?
