Doing engineering pre reqs as a business major

I was denied engineering and got business. Can I just take the engineering pre reqs first semester and switch my major officially to engineering second semester after getting a good gpa first semester. Has anyone done this here where they take pre reqs for the major they want and then transfer over the second semester?
