NOLA Mosquito situation in July

Hey guys! My husband and I are planning a trip and we want to visit to New Orleans! The issue is he HATES mosquitos. What's the deal with the Mosquitos situation in July? Is it really bad or manageable with bug spray? Also, during this time of year, are the swamp tours a no go (because of the mosquitos)?
