Safe to visit Egypt early September?

Originally we planned on visiting Doha and Dubai for 1.5 weeks as USCs but due to the conflict we plan on taking a flight out of Doh to Cairo. Is it safer in Egypt than the the M.E? Also how's the weather around that time? Is 7 nights 6 days enough time to visit the popular touristy stuff?
