Moving to the uk
Hey Reddit, I could really use some support and ideas right now.
I'm 18 (tm), a full-time worker, streamer, and cosplayer with a very clingy cat, trying to make a fresh start in the UK—somewhere that already feels like home. I’ve visited many times, and I’ve got family there (shoutout to my wonderful aunt in Brighton who’s helping me scout places).
The thing is... I’m broke. Like, genuinely scraping-the-bottom-of-the-savings broke. My current job barely covers basics, let alone a over the ocean move, and I’ve been pushing myself with streaming too—trying to grow something that might eventually help.
Now I'm looking at picking up a second job just to make this dream even remotely possible within the next year. But my mom’s worried, and honestly? She's right. I’ve hit burnout before, hard. I don’t want to end up there again. I’m just stuck between keeping my health and chasing the freedom that moving would bring.
All I want is to find a way to earn enough—honestly and safely—without falling into the kind of sketchy situations so many people my age are pushed toward when things get desperate.
If anyone's got advice, stories, or even a word of encouragement, I'd really appreciate it.
