How do I interact with people who state their opinions/preferences strongly?

What I mean is like in conversations when people state an opinion (and it's not in an "I think this way because of this" with a mellow tone), and it's more this:

"I mean if you're not ___ then what are you even doing with your life."

"___ are just ___."

"I do NOT understand how any one could ever ___ ."

then how do I respond?

and how do I not get so sensitive about hyperbole?

and how do I even tell if they are using hyperbole and wouldn't mind hearing my opinion or if they really are as judgmental as I feel they sound?

I think I'm being overly sensitive, but I get scared off easily when people word their opinions in a strong way. I don't want to be how I am. Though I would prefer to befriend people with gentler language, I'm still working on making friends at all so I'm not being choosy right now. And, so many people speak in the way that I wrote anyways so it might be hard even in the future when I am better at making friends to find others who speak in more chilled out language (..or not idk). But in the meantime, does anyone have advice for me?
