Increasing acrylic opacity?
Hey all! New to this particular sub, and working on a large (3 by 4 ish feet) piece with a deadline and really cramming it all in, cuz I have the time management skills of a carrot lol. If I had the self control/motivation/discipline to have started this months ago it wouldn't be 'as much' of a pressing issue, but hopefully someone may have a suggestion that could help.
I've got a bunch of acrylic paints of various brands, light-fastness, all the fancy terminology etc. I really try to avoid buying new ones unless I absolutely need them, can't justify the cost for something unnecessary, so I mostly just struggle with what I have. It's MOSTLY the liquitex basics line, with a very light sprinkle of liquitex professional and some Hunt/speedball thrown in.
Aside from buying better paints, my question is this, is there any real way to increase the opacity at all of the not so great liquitex basics line that I have, to avoid having to do a gazillion layers of everything for the rest of eternity until I die of boredom or old age, whichever may come first? Or am I just stuck dealing with the consequences of my (in)action and poor time management skills at this point? Which is totally fair and maybe I'll do better starting on time next year if that's the case lol I just thought I'd ask on the off chance someone more experienced than I could help 😅 thanks in advance
