Tongue Tie Laser Surgery Question

My 8 week old has a posterior tongue tie and is scheduled to have a laser procedure to release it. We haven't met with the doctor yet, but does this mean that the entire frenulum will be removed? And if so, how will the tongue stabilize without it?
