Against all odds

Has it ever occurred to KB that because he created a huge family, the chances of a second tragic event are much higher than those for a family of 4? It’s really remarkable there have been no disfiguring accidents, no life ending disease diagnoses, no deaths, etc (other than Garrison, RIP) in a family that size. Obviously losing a son wasn’t enough to convince him to draw his family close and mend relationships. Does he stop to think it’s pretty miraculous he hasn’t lost a second child and the odds of that happening sooner rather than later are pretty high? I think it’s human nature to want to protect the ones you love after any tragic event. Yet, we see K doing the exact opposite. That whole trip was about himself with R a close second. In my mind, not only are his actions showing massive narcissism but also reinforcing the idea that he just really doesn’t give a damn about the people he brought into the world. I don’t get it! That’s anything but normal. How’s he going to feel when something does happen and he still hasn’t fixed what he broke? He’s definitely to the age that mortality is a reality yet he doubles down. What a shame.
