What is Canadian culture and being Canadian?

What is Canadian culture and being Canadian?

For starters, I am Canadian. But the question I am about to ask has always bothered me.

Why Canadians think they are so different from Americans? In my opinion, two countries have the same culture and the pretty much identical, even the infrastructure is pretty much the same up to the point that you can drive in one country, drive in another and it would still feel as the same thing.(at least to me)

I don’t even think Canadian culture exists, and the most common answer I hear is that “Canadian is not an American!! And we are not the same and we are different, to the point that is like an insult”

But as a result, I ending up with an answer that Canadian identity is just not calling themselves as American, and taking it as an insult.

In my opinion, Canadians are so obsessed with America, literally, that their entire identity is based only on that. Even in the election, we cared about USA more than ourselves. So basically, Canadian is just different word for American without any sufficient differences that would actually show that we different. And for me all this “Canadian is not American is just kind of pathetic thing”

I see us as a country underneath US, and having our identities tied to them, and always bitching on them. So, please tell me what the actual differences are? Poutine?

I’m sorry if I didn’t phrased the question better, but it sure delivers the message.

I will answer in advance to a responses I have gotten from people before. “If you don’t like it here-move” I want to, and I will. Immigration takes time. Having universal healthcare, awful and unfair gun, and other laws(while Canadians backing it up), different political views and other policies it is not the question I am asking. I’m asking what is being a Canadian, and what is Canadian culture(not indigenous, but the one that majority of Canadians associate themselves with)?
