My bunny does not want to come out of his hide most of the day. Am I doing something wrong?
I brought home my bunny (2 month old male Netherland dwarf) one week ago. I have his 'home base' set up in an enclosure, but after two days, he was pretty good with his litter box so I opened the gate to his enclosure and gave him access to my studio apartment (which is completely bunny-proofed). The gate has remained open, except for when I go out for a few hours. I know I'm not meant to force interaction and pick him up and such, but I really want to bond with him, and it seems like he's still so shy and skittish. He barely ever comes out of one of his hideouts, let alone the enclosure. Am I doing something wrong? He has toys and I sit on the ground by him most of the day and speak to him in a soft voice but he seriously does not want to come out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, because right now I feel like we won't bond and I'll have a pet who I don't even see most of the day.
