Raised [Insert Religion] in New Game+?

I just started my first New Game+ and decided to take Raised Enlightened as I did in my original game and when I got to the temple in The Well there was no chest. Is this normal? I can't find much information about this online but had I known there wouldn't be any little gifts I might have chosen a different Starting Trait.
