Help with rationales and critical thinking/test strategies

Hey guys. I am currently studying for the nclex and I am struggling with studying my rationales. everyone says to do them, but I just don't understand how to. like i'm reading them, noting why my answer was wrong or right depending on the situation but is that enough??? am i overthinking this??? also any advice on how to improve critical thinking skills/test taking strategies? any help would be appreciated!
