Sharing Our Experience with Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon – A Detailed Review for Interested Parents

Hi folks,
Posting this to help parents who are researching schools in Gurgaon. We enrolled our child at Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon, and after nearly a full academic year, I wanted to share an honest review based on our experience.

📚 Academics:

The school follows the CBSE curriculum but integrates a lot of progressive learning techniques. They emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization. Assessments are frequent but fair, and the teachers actually encourage curiosity, which is rare in most Indian schools.

👩‍🏫 Faculty & Teaching Style:

The teacher-student ratio is quite healthy (especially in junior grades), and the staff is trained in modern pedagogical methods. What stood out to us is how approachable the teachers are—they regularly engage with parents, not just during PTMs.

🧠 Holistic Development:

This is where the school really shines. They have robust programs in music, theatre, art, robotics, public speaking, and sports. My child went from being shy to performing in front of 200 people in 6 months!

🏫 Infrastructure:

The campus is excellent—well maintained, secure, and thoughtfully designed. Smart classrooms, dedicated labs for science/robotics, spacious sports areas, a library that’s actually used, and even a performing arts space.

📱 Communication & Tech:

They use a dedicated parent portal and app that tracks everything—attendance, homework, circulars, and even class updates. Communication is smooth and timely.

💰 Fees:

Yes, it’s on the higher side, especially when you include transport and optional programs. But we personally feel the value matches the investment.

🚍 Transport:

They offer air-conditioned buses with GPS tracking. Routes are extensive and pretty punctual, though some parents in our community WhatsApp group have had occasional issues.

👎 Downsides:

  • Not ideal if you're looking for a purely academic/competitive exam-focused environment.
  • Admission process can be long and selective.
  • Some people find it “elitist,” though we haven’t personally felt that way.
