Lyra Dragoon

Characters

Backstory: "The Lance of the Forgotten Glen"

Lyra Dragoon was born in a hidden settlement buried deep within the uncharted forests of Mistral — a quiet, nomadic community that lived in harmony with the wilds. Her people didn’t believe in cities or Huntsmen academies. They believed in balance, in surviving Grimm not with force but with respect, cunning, and speed.

From childhood, Lyra was different. Where others tiptoed past beasts and hid in the trees, she charged headlong into the woods, her wooden lance in hand, challenging the growls in the darkness. She formed a bond with a wild steed — a massive black-furred mare she named Embermane — and trained with it like they were one soul. She was the only mounted hunter in her tribe, a ghost on the wind, her lance glowing with Dust that she carved herself.

One day, rumors spread of a "Grimm Dragon" seen circling the mountains, leaving storms and death in its wake. The elders warned Lyra not to pursue it — that it was not her battle.

She went anyway.

Lyra and Embermane found the creature mid-slaughter, wings wider than the trees, breath like fire. She struck it, drove it back—but not without cost. It wounded her steed, poisoned the land with its blood, and vanished. When she returned home, she found her entire village gone, consumed by Grimm attracted to the dragon’s chaos.

She blamed herself.

With her tribe erased and only Embermane limping at her side, Lyra wandered to the fringes of civilization. She became a wandering hunter, fighting Grimm in the wilds, sleeping under stars, shunning cities—until she crossed paths with a Beacon recruiter on a supply route ambushed by Grimm.

Her speed and ferocity stunned them. She wasn't a soldier—she was something wilder.

At first, she refused Beacon's offer. But when she heard Balthor speak—stoic, noble, someone who also had lost everything—she saw the same grief mirrored in his eyes.

She joined—not for revenge, but to learn how to fight smarter, to make sure no other homes vanished like hers.
