Messages not sending to non-RCS users

I have RCS turned on, but only 1 person in my contacts seems to also have it on. Everyone else in my contacts seems not to, and they're not getting my messages. Is there a way to fix this issue apart from making everyone else switch to RCS? I'm currently on pixel 3a because my Pixel 7 is practically unusable right now, but I didn't have this issue on the Pixel 7 until I switched back to my old phone. My data and WiFi are fine.
