Educator (VA) looking for advice

Applications

Hi all!

I recently lost my previous position as I had to resign for my mental health. I’ve been interviewing for about a month or more, been offered some position(s), yet, nothing has clicked, yet. For example, I was offered an EL middle school position, yet, I haven’t worked with middle schoolers, worked exclusively as an EL teacher, or worked in this district. The district would’ve also been somewhat new and moving buildings. It felt too much all at once.

Anywho, I’ve applied at a variety of places and had a few interviews, yet, more “no’s” than “yeses.” It’s been discouraging and frustrating, especially knowing I have almost a decade in education, speak Spanish, etc.

If I had to guess, I’ve probably sent 50+ applications. I’ve had about 5 interviews and about 1 job offer.

I’ve been speaking with a workforce office and I plan to meet with a career advisor tomorrow.

I honestly would still like to be within the education field, yet, feel I don’t want to be a classroom teacher at this time. I wouldn’t mind EL teacher, EdTech, etc.

Anyone else have any other advice?
