What’s the best mattress topper?

My boyfriend and I have been using a 3” topper from amazon but it doesn’t fit in the tent when folded down and it takes up a ton of room in the car. Is there an alternative that doesn’t sacrifice comfort but also saves us space for actual necessities? Has anyone done an air mattress in their roof tent before? TIA!:D
