contacting jobs after applying

I applied for a part time youth work job. I'm currently doing a diploma in youth work. I'm only applying for one place since I don't have much free time and this job feels perfect for me. I keep checking seek and today they looked at my application and I really want to do something to basically be like "hey! I'm super interested". I've thought about sending an email possibly with some sort of question about the role. would I be annoying? this job is aimed for 18-25 and seems like most workers are young and I wish I added even more to my cover letter... would they hate me or throw my application away if I reached out?
