Early 2000’s song

I vividly remember watching a music video and it was about the artist life? And the first part was her as a young girl being inside a lot, but she looks outside the window and she sees that there’s a birthday party going on and when she goes out to try to join this little boy picks at her and I think the rest of the music video is her slowly growing up and I think I remember self harm being in it too. Can anyone help? I thought it was a katy perry song but I couldn’t find it, and no search engine helped. It was a sad song I think but the ending is the little girl standing up for herself if I remember correctly.
