I want your take on my uncles recent comment
My (F23) uncle (M50) essentially raised me. He wasn’t the best father figure but he was all I had growing up. We’ve been no contact for about 4 years, due to physical/emotional abuse.
We recently reconnected and I decided to give him another chance (I know. I haven’t told any of my friends and only very select family members because of the reaction you are probably having right now: “why would you do that?” I don’t know.)
Anyway, he mentioned to me that girls my age hit on him, not once but twice in the short time we’ve reconnected. He volunteers this information to me unprompted.
“A girl at the bar hit on me last night,” he said. “I told her I couldn’t date anyone younger than my niece.” He tells me, “the girl just turned 24, thought I was 30.”
I didn’t respond mostly because I didn’t know what to say. I felt weird about it given that there’s a good chance I know her, if this actually happened. He said this like a flex or a brag. But I was told it’s no big deal. Am I overthinking it? This is the second time he’s made a comment like this.
