Asylum seeker detained

I have a friend who applied for asylum in U.S.A. one year ago. He was detained in arizona while driving truck a few days ago. He has a E.A.D and S.S.N. He has a valid CDL. He has no criminal record. He entered the country illegaly at that time. What are his chances of getting out with the help of a lawyer.
