Anyone else wants to keep a prayer journal, but just couldn’t make it work?
I’ve learned that keeping a prayer journal could be a really meaningful spiritual discipline. There are so many benefits in my mouth-long trial:
- When I get distracted during prayer, it helps me pick up where I left off.
- I can look back and see how God answered prayers — not always how I expected, but always faithfully.
- It helps me remember prayer requests from others and stay consistent in intercession.
- It also reveals my heart: sometimes I notice false views of God, or recognize when I’ve been praying from a place of sin, pride, or fear.
But despite all that, I’ve struggled to make it stick.
Two main problems:
- I want to record every prayer, but pulling out a journal in certain settings feels awkward — not to mention impractical.
- I find it hard to maintain the habit daily. And when I fall off, I feel guilty, which makes it harder to start again.
As a CS grad, I’ve been wondering:
What if there were a more seamless way to journal prayers — something like voice recording + transcription?
But I don’t want to use my phone — unlocking it and opening an app before prayer feels... unholy, distracting.
So I imagined something like a prayer ring or pendant that quietly records and transcribes my voice prayers. Something simple, sacred-feeling, and always with me. A kind of tech-assisted way to walk with God.
Has anyone else thought about this? Or tried something similar? Would love to hear your thoughts.
