Low Estrogen?
Sorry this might be a bit TMI, but last August I got my first ever yeast infection. Went to the doctors, got given clotrimazole cream which didn’t do anything, went back to the doctors, got given Fluconazole tablet, like magic the yeast infection went away. Or so I thought. A week after my symptoms cleared, I started to experience this dry, burning sensation on my labia minor and vaginal entrance. I went back to my doctor, who swabbed me and it came back negative for literally everything (which yay, but also what?). This sensation continued for months, I got swabbed by 3 other doctors because I wasn’t convinced my yeast was gone; all came back negative.
Finally went and saw a gynaecologist, who took a look and said it looked inflamed and I had a tiny bit of discharge on the inner labia, so she prescribed me a long 6 month course of Fluconazole. Which means I can’t take my beta blockers for the whole 6 months. It’s been pretty good so far, however, my periods are suddenly really short (2.5 days compared to my usual 5-7 days) and pretty light. And on the day after my period I get the burning sensation back (it’s not as intense and comes and goes depending on friction etc).
So now I’m wondering if it could also be low estrogen? I read it can cause similar symptoms to what I’m experiencing and supposedly chronic illnesses and contribute to low estrogen.
Has anyone else dealt with anything similar that can give me some more insight? I’m seeing my gynaecologist in 2 weeks, so I’ll obviously tell her everything I’ve experienced since. But it’s been almost a year and I want it gone, I’m over it!
