Navigating as a gay through the DMV

I still haven’t got the hang of it, it’s supposed to be a super gay friendly place, a super black friendly place, but oftentimes I find myself at odds with it all, as far as dates, when you filter out the married guys just looking for a toy for the night and DL guys looking for nasty overnight secret there’s really not much else, and definitely not a sizable number of people interested I guess?, friends? Even with an outgoing personality, trying to talk to these guys you may as well have just assaulted their grandma or something. I’ve always been told moving to a big city is something a gay person is supposed to do if they’re looking for community, love, etc amongst their peers, but this is the complete opposite of what I was expecting especially from an area as old and prominent as this.
