I wish people wouldn't invalidate my hyperfixations
One of my big pet peeves is when people shit on things I'm hyperfixating on.
(This paragraph is background, tldr I'm researching and planning for how to get a dog) Right now I am INTENSELY hyper-fixating on getting a dog (Black German Shepard is the current dream in case you were wondering) and have been doing a TON of research into dog breeds, training, how to meet a dog's physical and emotional needs, how to potentially train or get a service dog, you name it. Do I currently live in an apartment where I could get a dog as a pet? Big ol no. Am I financially ready? Absolutely not. But I am deep into planning out how to save money, monthly costs, I mean HYPER-FIXATING.
Now I'm typically somewhat private about my hyper fixations because if people make snide little comments not realizing just how deeply I'm invested, then Mr. RSD pops his head up and I wind up really damn hurt. So when I casually tell my parents "I really want a big dog someday" and my dad's first and only reaction to his homebody daughter is "then you won't be able to travel." Or when people say "Oh you know, having a dog is sO mUcH wOrK"
Chat, my friend, I've already researched the shit out of how to travel with a dog, hell I've researched how to camp in your car, how to have a dog in an rv, down to how to keep us both cool if the car is hot. And when that doesn't fit the situation, dog sitters exist!
TLDR, why can't people just be supportive right off the bat? Why does me dreaming about what I want my life to look like a year from now have to be met with immediate "well have you considered this here hinderance? That'll make your dream so inconvenient." I have, in fact, looked into said hinderances hard. And even if I hadn't, just let a girl dream, for fucks sake
