Husband doesn't value my input.

Seeking Advice

To preface: I recognize that this is small beans but my problem is how my husband handled my disagreeing with him more than anything else.

So basically what happened was we were watching a movie and our son comes in with his joy con which got stuck in the fake steeringwheel accessory. My husband tries to muscle it out but it's stuck-stuck. So he reaches over, grabs MY phone charger, and tries using the USB-C end to try to leverage the remote out.

I say, "are you kidding me? You're gonna ruin my charger, and that's not what it's for! Why don't you use a flat head or something?" He straight up ignores me, grabs his own charger and uses it to pry the shit out. No surprise, it doesn't work, so he flips it around and uses the adapter block prongs to pry it free. I was already annoyed that he was showing our kid how to misuse his stuff, but now I'm mad because he's straight up ignoring me in front of our kid.

So since he doesn't see the importance of teaching our son how to do something the right way, I look at our son and tell him, "look, don't do as dad's doing. Don't use your chargers as tools. It isn't what they're for and you risk damaging your charger." He just nods, thanks his dad, and leaves.

So then my husband's sitting there mad, giving me the silent treatment, probably because I just undermined his parenting. The movie ends and he comments, "that movie sucked, huh?"

And here's where I know I'm wrong.. my ass decides to say, "Idk why you're asking as if you value my input."

So he softens up, apologizes, and suddenly agrees he should have shown our son the right way. But at this point I'm mad at how he handled the whole thing. I'm sick of the ignoring my input. I'm sick of the silent treatment. I'm sick of him "agreeing" that I was right all along long after the opportunity comes and goes.

So I give him an earful. I tell him this crap is exactly why we ended up in marriage counseling in the first place. Because rather than take my POV into consideration he straight up ignores me. He has more of a "better to ask for forgiveness than for permission" approach to teamwork and parenting.

I tell him, "my biggest issue is that you showed our son how to do it this way and knowing him he's doing to do some stupid shit like use a charger as a tool while it's plugged in or just straight up trash his fucking chargers.... like honestly, he's done some stupid fucking shit and now I gotta worry about him doing more stupid shit."

My husband goes, "yeah, you're right, I didn't think of that."

But my issue is, what the fuck does an apology matter? How is it better to go through all of that unnecessary bullshit just to circle back and act like you should have agreed from the beginning? Like just do it the right way in the first fucking place.
