Pokemon Romhacks constantly crashing on Miyoo Mini V4. Any suggestions or alternative SBCs recs?
I've had my Miyoo Mini V4 (No-RTC model) for about a year now. I like it a lot, but I've found that it crashes very frequently specifically when playing heavier Pokemon Romhacks (Unbound and Odyssey, in particular). It doesn't seem like it's due to specific bugs, so my guess is that it might be due to some memory leak. I imagine that it's to be expected, since they are more resource-intensive, but my first question is just wanting to check if anyone else has had this experience with the Mini V4s, or if I maybe just have a faulty unit.
Next, would anyone have any tweaks or suggestions for how to fix this without buying a new console? I've already set it to overclock at 1600hz (which did make a decent difference in performance), and I'm currently using the mGBA core.
If not anything from the above, does anyone have suggestions for an alternative device that can run these more resource-intensive Pokemon romhacks more smoothly? I tried running it on my PSP with both the gbsp and Kai emulators, but both turned out to run the romhacks even worse than the Mini V4, with lots of screen tearing and major random framedrops/slowdowns. I have a modded 3DS and DS Lite with an R4, but I just wanted to ask if people had better experiences running things on these before I go through the effort.
Lastly, I've considered getting either a Miyoo Mini Plus or a Trimui Brick (both about the same price including shipping for where I live). For the Plus, I'd be worried about the power/memory being too close to the V4 that I'd just run into the same problems. For the Trimui Brick, I'd be concerned about the reported heat problems, especially for resource-intensive games. So, would anyone be able to give their experiences with running the more resource-intensive Pokemon romhacks on these consoles? And/or would anyone have any alternative suggestions for consoles I could consider around the same price range?
Thanks in advance!
