Was The Temple of Doom influenced by The Gunslinger cart chase

As I was reading the Gunslinger last year the mine carts reminded me of Indiana Jones, and I just watched the temple of doom on tv and was reminded again. I looked it up and Gunslinger was 82, TOD was 84. Or is this a classic thing that’s been in a lot of old westerns?
