singaporeans who have received help from mfa while overseas, what was your experience like?

question in title. read the news about 3 singaporeans being evacuated from iran, and wondered about how mfa identifies and renders help to singaporeans who need help while overseas, and how the process was like (esp for crisis like earthquake / war etc).
