Watering tips for bare root Drosanthemum globosum

I have a Drosanthemum globosum that I received bare root. Just wondering if I could use rooting hormone on it or, if I need to water more frequently/less frequently. Any tips to watering this would be great. It’s in a 2 inch pot with very gritty soil and the plant is about an inch tall.
