Bodycount doesn’t matter
I’m going to preface this with saying that I am a republican, catholic, and Irish-American. I was 25 when I met my wife who was 22 at the time. I’ll also say that I’m from Queens Ny, and my wife is from El Salvador she had been living on Long Island for 4 years before we met. Our first date was in Astoria park those of you from NYC should be familiar. I knew that night that I was going to marry her. From the first date I knew it. Well I’ll fast forward about 3 months and we were sitting in the car and the topic of our sexual history came up. She was asking my number and was insisting that she wouldn’t care and that she was just curious. So I told her. It was 26 at the time. I was embarrassed by it because it wasn’t a good 26 if you know what I mean. I had been out of an almost 5 year relationship roughly for 10 months prior to meeting her, and after the breakup in those months I went a little crazy. Also I met my ex girlfriend at a SUNY university in upstate NY she was also from Queens. When I got out of high school I had already had 10 under my belt and thought I was the man. I met my ex in the second semester in freshman year and we were together all through college and almost a year after. Great girl just didn’t work out we were young and not as compatible as time went on. Fast forward to November following my breakup. I met this girl we grabbed a slice and went to the park it was insane the chemistry we immediately had. So like I said before our sexual history came up. I had 26 and I told her I don’t want to know anything of yours please don’t tell me. So a couple more months went on and my curiosity got the best of me. I asked her and she told me honestly it was 15. My heart felt like someone smashed it with a hammer. I couldn’t believe it. (I know I sound like a hypocrite). I just looked at her like an angel. Blah blah blah she had a bad break up with a guy from the island about a year and a half prior and told me she just wasn’t interested in love or a relationship and the few guys that she took seriously cheated on her. But when we met it was an insane connection like where has this girl been all my life. To be honest I thought about her bodycount for like 4 months after finding out it would come in waves of jealousy and anger. But it was one day I was upstate visiting some friends from college and come Sunday I’m headed back to queens. If anybody knows about I-87 or the taconic parkway it’s mad traffic on sundays. Well whatever it gave me a lot of time to think I’m listing to music and really just in my head the whole trip. I forgot to mention that I had got her pregnant about 3 months prior to this day so I was really feeling pressure. Am I going to be a good dad? is she going to be a good mom? How can I marry this girl with the past that I found out about. Well it hit me at around Nyack going over the Tappanzee bridge (not the Mario Cuomo) only Nyers know what I’m talking about. But whatever. I was overcome with this peace and I said “you’ll never know unless you try.” So we got married about 2 months after this day on our first date anniversary. And all I have to say is this woman is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without meeting her. She is the most incredible mother and wife I could’ve ever asked for. The home is taken care of immaculately my son is always taken care of, we have a fantastic family that we built from 2 broken people who met on a whim. (It sounds a little shallow talking about the house being taken care of but I work long days in the city and it’s absolutely amazing coming home to a freshly cooked meal and clean house). The reason I wrote this piece is because I realized people change. I changed from being a drunken degenerate like all my family before me to being a good father. And I feel as though she was lost after her ex cheated on her and soured her outlook on relationships. But once we met we were inseparable. All I’m saying is don’t believe all this nonsense about bodycount. Because she is the greatest woman I’ve ever met and that’s all there is to it. An actual soulmate. Fellas in today’s day and age people fuck get over it. Find someone who’s is your best friend and that you can enjoy life with and look at the future don’t dwell in the past. That’s all. QGTM
