Can you claim back your money from an insurer for unnecessary repairs? If so, what is the time period?

Hi, long story short. I have high excess on my car insurance (my dad helped me set up and I didn't realize it was 8.5k I always assumed it was 5k).

I hit a major pothole at the start of the month which bust my two right tyres. I was afraid that my suspension would be damaged because it was properly bad so I let the car go through the insurance for repairs.

At the time I needed my car back urgently so I just had to pay my excess and move on. I was also not in the best mindset at the time so I was not thinking straight.

The repair cost was 8.8k, my excess was 8.5k so I basically paid for the entire repair. No rim damage, no suspension damage. The cost of the repair came from 2 new tyres, x-ray of the rims, and polishing the rims. Again I wasnt in the right mindset to question the polishing and I needed my car back urgently. Now that I'm thinking about it, why was the rims polished? The polishing came to 2.5k on total which was unnecessary.

Am I able to dispute this claim still? I'm insured with naked.
