My new life in Japan so far (teaching English at California Language Institute)
Been lurking on this sub-reddit for a while but finally decided to make a post. Ive been here three whole months now working as an English teacher - すごいね - so i wanted to share my experiences so far as a relative newbie. Japan is such an 美しい country and already feels like home. Every day i have been here, ive met such incredible, friendly folk who are super friendly to foreigners. And the food here is better than anything i was eating back home in London. i already experienced cherry blossom season when I first arrived and i am working my way through the local tourist spots, trying to find places off the beaten track.
The heat has been a shock though in the past few days, i am sweating like crazy just walking to the train station in the morning. Anyone have tips on things to buy apart from the obvious things like a fan to help get through this heat? i see so many things in the drug stores here for cooling down but what they all are i do now know.
Loving the work so far - i get to teach kindergarten and elementary school children all day, めっちゃ可愛い, and it`s sooooo fun compared to anything i ever did before. I am visiting different places to teach every day of the week and having a blast. Seems like people are way too negative about teaching in Japan on this reddit group. After all we get paid to do what we enjoy doing in another country.
Who else is loving living in Japan?
