Help catching first striper

So I recently got into surf fishing and have had no luck with all my lures including my lucky craft flash minnow, Rat L Trap, soft plastic shad, bucktail jig. I was out all day today from low tide to rising tide to high tide and had no luck even with moving spots. I also did not use a leader line and attached my braid directly to my lure and did not really get too deep in the water (kindve stayed near shore). Any tips would be appreciated!
