Should I pivot to what the economy will want?
So to preface this I am a rising 3rd year Mechanical Engineering major with three internships one being at a national energy lab. Ill have one more this upcoming semester but its more like a research project on wind turbines.
I had the idea that I will move my way into the wind energy industry after college, but looking at the incoming reconciliation bill it seems not only they are gutting the tax credits for wind and solar, they are also adding a new tax on future projects. Regardless of whether that provision or if the entire bill is passed, should I be pivoting to be competitive in another industry where I will have better luck getting a job? I know the news is pessimistic but its painting as if our generation are unemployed and the area I live most of the job opportunities are HVAC design jobs which I found dreadfully boring.
Any advice would be helpful!
