Failure to go into battery
Had an odd experience today at my local gun range. Finally had some free time to go shoot my 14.5” ADM UIC Mod 2. Grabbed some Winchester 55 grain FMJ ammo and went to zero in my optic.
Put a little bit of CLP on the BCG and loaded a magazine and pulled the trigger and nothing..
Ejected the magazine, attempted to lock the bolt to the rear and it did not move at all. Began disassembling upper and lower and noticed the bolt didn’t go all the way in, pushed it back in, applied a bit more CLP on the bolt and put it back together. Attempted to fire and again, nothing.
Tapped the forward assist a few times, got the bolt to seat all the way and then didn’t have any problems the rest of the time there (about 2 hours worth of shooting).
Only other relevant details I can think of is that I had paid for a cerakote job done by a local gun shop. When I received it back I noticed a detent was missing for the ambi trigger so I bought a parts kit and replaced the detent for the 45 degree throw. Those are the only things I’ve done to this rifle that was different from how I received it from ADM.
Anyone else think it was just a break-in hiccup? Maybe too much CLP?
