Fixed blade for camping/hiking.

I like to have a fixed blade attached to my backpack straps for hiking. But, the ones I have are not hard use and are likely illegal in Hawaii (going on vacation soon). They would likely be considered weapons more than tools. What is a good harder use fixed blade knife that is still lighter and more compact than a lot of the thiccboys I've seen posted? I love the beasts too, but i want something lighter for hiking.

I know kinda odd/tough requirements. Harder use, but light, definitely tool vibe, not weapon vibe. But, I dont plan on doing a ton of batoning with it.
