Get a Merchant Account, but Prepare for a 3-5 Month Processing History Requirement, Nobody Warns You

After discovering the existence of merchant accounts, I was truly excited. It was widely believed that they were the best solution to avoid sudden account closures, funds being held, and all the unnecessary hassle that payment processors bring. However, fast forward a few months and here's the current situation. The well-known processor that starts with an "S" (you know the one) closed my account immediately after I received my very first dispute. No warnings, no previous issues, just a sudden shutdown. Since then, I've applied to more than 10 merchant account providers in the last 2 months.

Unfortunately, most of them rejected me due to my limited processing history (only £5,000 total over 1 month). These companies typically prefer customers who are hitting higher numbers, like £50,000 or more per month.

Recently, I came across a company that requires a minimum monthly fee of £1,000! What they don't tell you is that most merchant account providers won't consider you without at least 3-5 months of processing history. It's a catch-22 situation - how can you build that history when the initial processors shut you down as soon as you start gaining traction?

It honestly feels like a setup. Everyone talks about getting a merchant account as if it's a simple task, but in reality, the system is not designed for new businesses at all. If anyone has any recommendations for companies that accept UK customers, web designers, or sole proprietors, feel free to shoot me a DM. I'm feeling incredibly frustrated and lost at this point.
