Clearing upsome things about us shias
Saw a post on this sub by a shia about so called self harm or "matam" as we call it, so decided to post as this would reach more people.
Our scholars in fiqh e jafriya have said that this is neither obligatory nor haram and it is only a cultural practise. Hence, it is entirely upon us whether we do it or not.
What we do prioritise more than this is solidarity with the ahlebait, shedding tears for them and trying to show our love for them, as we believe this will also take us closer to Jannah. The Holy Prophet has said: "Hussain is feom me and I am from Hussain" So whats wrong in discussing and crying for their hardships. We imagine the pain Hussein went through to save the deen. From Muslim bin aqeel to four year old sakina who died in her celler, Hussein was lonely picking up the bodies of his loved ones on the battlefield.
Lastly, I just wanna share an urdu ashaar feom a noha with y'all which perfectly describes the aftermath of karbala.
