The idea that man worked and woman just sat around and raised kids for most of history?

Non-Political News/Discussion

I sadly watched a bit of the Candace Owen's Jubilee video and I saw she made this argument that woman for most of their history just stayed at home and raised babies while men worked. Andrew Wilson is another one that also tries to make this argument too in certain debates... I just haven't seen anything that closely validates this idea. In fact it seems like the opposite would be true, for much of mankind's history things like food were a lot more scarce than today, so I just can't really envision women staying at home while the family may not for example have a reliable food source.

I almost feel people like Andrew Wilson and Candace simply believe this just because movies and tv shows back in the day used to portray society this way, and that they have little evidence beyond this. Does anyone have any evidence either way on this subject?
