300 Prompts.
I just picked up this book while shopping for groceries tonight.
It is meant to turn you into a writer, although I consider myself one in a sense already. I've been really connecting to myself recently, so I thought, "why not?"
What person in your life knows you the best, and how did you meet?
That's easy. John and I met over 20 years ago. Apparently, he pushed me into a pole at church, and that's how we became friends.
He was always there growing up, and I never took much notice of him. We reconnected in college. In 2018, we went on a beach trip with some friends. We started hanging out multiple times a week. I slowly shared more and more of myself. A new experience.
He was one of the first people to find out I was gay. He was really there for me as an incredible friend. He felt safe.
He soon began dating his ex-wife, and jealousy exposed the true nature of my relationship with him. Naturally, I began acting out, and we slowly drifted apart.
His divorce brought about the rekindling of our friendship. I finally reconciled my feelings by this point, and I was able to be there for him as he was for me before.
It's been 23 years. We just got back from China a month ago. I am waiting for his call, the confirmation the he, too, is thinking of me. A softness, unlike romance, but that of a true and deep friendship.
