Nearly all of my weight is intra-abdominal. How unusual is this?
I am a 55y o male. I am 5’7” and am 186. I should be about 155. I need to lose about 30 pounds. I have some subcutaneous fat but almost all is in my belly (yes, bad) which has stretched out over the past few years to become a massive beach ball, which is incredibly uncomfortable when I’m full because I feel like I’m going to explode. Interestingly, that doesn’t take away the appetite, so I’m still considering a GLP-1.
In order for me to lose weight I need to keep my calories at around 1650 or less. That is very little food and hard to do. Even 1850 for me is hard to do consistently. (Maintaining my bowling ball weight occurs at 2050 cal.)
Getting rid of sugar (and I never ate processed food) hasn’t changed these details for me. Intermittent fasting also hasn’t really helped some of the time I overheat when I break the fast, but I would expect to see something more than I do.
Anyone else have these difficulties? A low caloric requirement to lose weight, despite normal labs, and mostly intra abdominal fat that is very hard to get rid of?
